Pisa: Another Week is Over

Another week of work here in Pisa is over. Didn’t manage to get as much work done as I had hoped for, mainly because the other girl I am working with needed to do some of her own analyses as well, and they gave her problems, hence longer analysis time. However, having stayed late at the lab yesterday and putting in a long day’s work today (I arrived at 8:30 at uni, but till 11:30 the instrument was giving us problems, so till we figured out what to do, I couldn’t do any analyses).

Now tonight? I am waiting for my last run of the week to be over. This will have meant that I will have totally analysed 6 of my 10 photographs, with one sample (from 9) left to be analysed from the 7th photographs, and 3 full photographs (minus one sample each…i.e. 25 samples) left for me to analyse. This should be quite possible, unless the other girl needs to use the instrument for a long time again, and/or something goes wrong. After this analysis we might try to do some other analyses, but ti depends if this other instrument will be working and if we have time. We will see.

Well, after this run is over, I then rush home, then to the supermarket, then back home, then run to the airport, to meet Cecilia and Marilyn who are coming to visit me :D:D. I guess this will be the 1st of 5 visits to the Pisa airport in the next 1.5 weeks…2 times for Cec and Marilyn, 2 times for Michael, and one time for me, to say goodbye to this lovely place which has made me feel so welcome.

But enough sad feelings for the day :)

I’m off for a hectic weekend! (and YES I need to SLEEP!…need to find the time for that)

  1. Hi annuca,

Another piece of news is we have a Twitter reporter: Thandelike. She will be tweeting about each individual blog (including the url in the tweet). As a thank you, we should all include a backlink to Thandelike: http://twitter.com/thandelike, along with this bio info: “Thandelike is an American based in Istanbul, and is the creator of Expat Harem. She also shares resources for writers/travelers, expats, Turkophiles & culturati, and her cultural producer Twitterstream focuses on women, travel, and history.”

Hope you’re having a great time with your visitors!!!

    Have a great day!

  2. Hi annuca,
There is a correction for the bio for Thandelike, it should read: Anastasia Ashman is an American cultural producer based in Istanbul, and is a creator of Expat Harem, the anthology by foreign women about modern Turkey. Her Tweetstream focuses on women, travel and history and she shares resources for writers/travelers, expats, Turkophiles & culturati of all stripes.

Would it be easier to email about WBSD? If so, just send me a note!

    Have a great day,
    Sher :0)

  3. Hi annuca,
It looks like my first comment didn’t make it…UGH! So, here goes again:

We have 17 people confirmed to participate in WBSD! You can read more here: http://sheroffthebeatenpath.blogspot.com/

We also have an official reporter for WBSD–Thandelike (Anastasia Ashman). Pleas see comment (above) for the bio information. She will be using Twitter to advertise WBSD, and will write about each participating blog, including it’s URL. As a way of thanking her, each blogger should include the bio (above) and a backlink to her Twitter profile. You can find that information in the update post on my blog.

    Have a great day!
    Sher :0)
